Silver Skate Festival 2014

We went to the Silver Skate Festival in February.  Except Shae because she thinks she's too old to have fun.  We sampled maple sugar taffy and bannock, and tried all kinds of winter sports.  Lots of fun!

Maira's 7th birthday

After watching the new Disney movie, Frozen, in December, it was an easy decision to choose Frozen as the theme for Maira's 7th birthday.

The refreshments were marshmallows as "snowballs", orange jelly beans as "noses", pretzel sticks for "arms" and chocolate chips for "buttons".  And of course, melted snowmen to drink!

We played Pin the Nose on Olaf:

We made paper snowflakes:

We played statues with the soundtrack from Frozen:

And I think the crowd favourite was a sock snowball fight:

Happy birthday to my Snow Queen Maira!

This is a painting Shae made for Maira in our front entry:

Galaxyland

We went to Galaxyland one night in January while Jess was on a trip to Victoria.  This was Hudson and Maira's first time riding the Autosled roller coaster - they were nervous at first but ended up loving it and rode it many times.

New Years Eve 2013/14

The night before New Years Eve, I took all the Christmas decorations off the tree and decorated it with balloons, streamers, New Years Eve hats, and confetti poppers.

We invited our good friends and cousins, Nolene and Clay and their kids over to celebrate with us.

Happy 2014!

Hudson's 5th Birthday

A few days after Christmas, my sweet baby boy Hudson turned 5.  He is a strong, smart, adorable little guy and we all love him to pieces.

A few days after his birthday, I told him he wasn't old enough to do something.  He told me that actually, four was young but five was old.  Not really old like eight or nine but still pretty old and definitely old enough to do whatever he wanted.  Nice try, bud.

As his birthday is over Christmas holidays, we often have extra visitors for his birthday.  This year, my grandmother, my brother and his daughter came to visit and they were here for Hudson's birthday.  Along with my mom and my sister's family, it made for a full house!

When I asked him what kind of cake he wanted, he asked for a strawberry cake.  So I made a strawberry jello poke cake with plenty of fresh strawberries.  He loved it!

My grandmother sews pajamas at Farmers Markets every year and she brought new pajamas for all the great grandkids - aren't they cute?

For his birthday, he decided a few months ago that Skylanders was going to be the theme for his party.  I'm really not a fan of video game themed parties but he would not be swayed and it was a pretty easy request so I relented.  He invited a couple of friends over to play Skylanders with him and then I set up a few Skylander themed games for them to play.   I decorated with the colours from the Skylanders Swapforce package and we were good to go.
