Back to School September 2015

Today all four of my kids headed back to school. Hudson's at his first day of Grade One, with the same teacher Maira had in Grade one. Maira is in Grade Three with a teacher who's brand new at the school. Connor is starting Grade Six, his last year of elementary teacher. He has the same teacher Shae had in Grade Six and Shae and I are both a big fan of hers so I'm really happy for him. Shae (sniff, sniff) is starting Grade Twelve. Here is an adorable picture of her when she was four years old, thrilled to be heading off to her first day of kindergarten. Look at those cheeks, I want to eat her up! Her backpack was half as tall as she was!

And here she is, heading off to her last year of high school:

She decided she wanted to dye her hair purple for the first day but she didn't want to bleach it first and her hair is so dark that it didn't show up much (darn...)

And here are my other three cuties, all set for their first days:

Family Photo Session 2012

This past weekend, we managed to catch an hour of one of the last nice days of the warm fall we've been having.  We convinced Spencer to come with us after supper out to the sledding hill near our house for a session of family photos.  The hill was covered in long grass and thistles gone to seed.  Not the fall foliage I had envisioned at first but I'm happy with it now that I look at the pictures.

My boys weren't being super co-operative (for some reason, family pictures aren't their favourite thing to do).  So, Spencer took a bunch of shots (and was very patient - thank you!!) and this one turned out the best:

Then we did individual shots:

And, of course, there were some silly shots too:

Shae took this one of us on the hill after the session:

And Jess took this picture of me while he was trying to find the best setting for the photo session:

And finally, here are some outtakes:

The low, warm sun made everything, even a patch of thistles, look beautiful.

Corn Maze 2012

We try and take the kids to the corn maze every fall.  They always have a lot of fun there.  But, this year, Shae and Connor both decided that the corn maze was boring, and did they have to go (whine, whine, whine)???  I usually make them do stuff like this but last night I was just tired so I said fine, they could stay home and we'd take the kids who were actually excited to go.

Maira and Hudson had a blast - it's only too bad we got there so late, they would have been happy to stay for a couple more hours.
