Maira's 10th Birthday

We ended up celebrating Maira's 10th birthday 3 times! Her actual birthday was a busy school night so I just stacked up a pile of two-bite brownies (gluten free so Shae could have them too) and stuck a candle on top. She was a little worried about the precariousness of the candle so I held it still for her.

At that meal, we brought out miracle berry tablets for everyone to try and had a little flavour tripping party. These are berries that coat your tongue and change the taste receptors for about half an hour so that sour things taste sweet. Connor ended up using them for a science fair project and he did such a great job that he was awarded a gold medal for his grade.

After the flavour tripping, Maira opened her presents and then everyone went off to bed.

Later that week, she had a friend birthday party. After a great deal of pleading and begging, I let her have 5 friends sleep over. First, we took them swimming and then we came back for cake and presents and then I sent them all to bed. And they stayed up and giggled and talked for hours and hours. Of course.

Maira almost couldn't blow out the last candle but managed to make it - phew, no boyfriends!

Then, the next day, we had all our Edmonton/Spruce Grove/Stoney Plain family over for a family birthday dinner.

She didn't quite manage all the candles this time so apparently it's two boyfriends after all!

Maira is an absolutely delightful girl (or FABULOUS as she would say). She loves performing, reading, drawing, being with her friends, skating, coding, playing video games, and shopping. She has a huge imagination, an excellent vocabulary and is a very talented writer. We love her to pieces.
