Connor had the option of entering a project in his school's science fair and decided he wanted to enter. He chose miracle berries as the subject: berries that grow in Africa that temporarily make sour food taste sweet. He conducted a randomized placebo-controlled test with kids at school and also a bunch of family members and had each participant drink a small amount of lemon juice and then describe the taste.
His science project won first place in his grade at his school so he was invited to attend the city-wide science fair. He spent a whole day presenting his project to viewers and judges and was disappointed not to receive another prize but I think he learned a lot from the experience.
