The Start of Spring

In early April, I insisted on spending a weekend afternoon outside at a nature preserve near Edmonton. We've had good luck getting birds to eat seeds out of our hands here before so I made sure we brought plenty of seeds and we headed out for a walk. Maybe it was too early or maybe there were too many people there but the birds didn't seem interested in our seeds - maybe next time!

Yes I know this looks like the middle of winter to many people but in Edmonton, this is April, several weeks after the first day of "spring".
